Choose LPG for your off-grid energy - the all-round better choice!

Your all-round energy source

LPG is the perfect choice to fuel your home. If you're not on the mains gas grid, LPG is the closest thing to natural gas and is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to heat your home, producing less carbon emissions than heating oil or other fossil fuels.

It's versatile too, providing instant heating and hot water and a controlled flame for cooking - so convenient and dependable. Stored in a bulk tank, you can be assured of a reliable, all-year-round supply to keep you and your family warm.

It's easy to switch to LPG

Switch to Robinsons Gas, your independent, local supplier, and we'll make it simple and hassle-free. So you can sit back and let us take care of everything.

Got a question?

We're here to help

  • Why should I choose LPG?

LPG is, quite simply, the closest alternative to mains gas for businesses and homes that aren’t connected to the mains gas grid.

It’s a low-carbon energy source, with the lowest carbon footprint out of all off-grid fossil fuels. That means its clean-burning, emitting very low levels of NOx, SOx, and Particulate Matter (PM).

Additional benefits of LPG when compared to other energy sources are that it is virtually impossible to steal, is highly efficient, and versatile, providing instant heat and a constant and controllable flame for cooking.

  • Who looks after my LPG tank?

Experience the Robinsons Gas difference with our in-house engineering team which will take care of all your LPG tank maintenance without outsourcing. Plus, every time we deliver to your business or home, our LPG drivers will visually inspect your LPG tank and report back to our in-house engineering division if there are any maintenance issues. We will notify you if there is anything that requires attention, or if there are any hazards such as overgrown vegetation that needs cutting back.

Additionally, our engineering team will perform a statutory inspection of the tank every 10 years.

  • What are my LPG storage options?

Whether for a new tank installation, a replacement, or an upgrade, there’s a choice of above-ground or underground LPG tanks. Both of these are available in various sizes and the best solution for your business or home will depend on your requirements, what space is available, and other factors.

Above-ground tanks are the most common type, and as the name suggests, are situated above ground.  Underground tanks are installed below ground, so are a great solution when space is limited and provide a more aesthetically pleasing solution.

Whichever type of bulk LPG tank you choose for your business or home storage, there are strict regulations as to the location of the tank, and our experienced and specialised in-house engineering team will be able to guide you as to the best choice for your individual requirement.

  • How do I pay for my LPG?

Whilst we offer different payment methods, the simplest way to pay for your LPG is by direct debit. We also accept debit cards, credit cards, and bank transfers, but we would ask you to put your Robinsons Gas account number in as a reference.

We would prefer you pay for your LPG by one of the above methods, but we will accept cheques. Again, we would need your Robinsons Gas account number which we request you write on the back of the cheque.

For more information about paying for your LPG, please call our highly experienced and friendly customer service team on 01347 238177.

  • How much notice do you need for a delivery?

We usually need 4 working days to process your order and deliver to you. If your LPG tank level has reached 30% or lower, we would ask you to give our friendly customer service team a call on 01347 238177 to place your order.

However, in periods of high demand or extreme weather conditions, the more notice you can give us the better. And in the event of an emergency, we will make every effort to get to you as soon as we possibly can.

You may want to consider our automatic top-up service so you have one less thing to think about. We supply businesses with a telemetry system that monitors the amount of gas left in your tank(s) 24/7 and lets us know when you need a delivery.

  • What is the future for LPG?

Renewable gases are on their way, with BioLPG and rDME (renewable dimethyl ether) both coming soon. They’re the ‘drop-in’ solutions that we’re looking forward to supplying to businesses and homes soon.

BioLPG, also known as Biopropane is an environmentally friendly choice. Being renewable and sustainable, it’s made from a mix of biological feedstocks and processes, and can lower your business or home’s carbon emissions by up to 90%. It works in the same way as traditional LPG as it has almost identical chemical and physical characteristics.

rDME is the other renewable gas that’s on the horizon. Again, just like traditional LPG it can be used in your existing system, and can be blended with LPG or BioLPG. Made from renewable feedstock such as methane from agriculture and municipal waste, it can lower your carbon emissions by up to 85%.

Both renewable gases offer a significant contribution to Net Zero. Click here to find out more.

    So watch this space!

  • When will you be supplying renewable gases?

The good news is we’re committed to supplying renewable gases as soon as they become readily available. but at this time, we can’t give you an exact date.

The LPG industry and Liquid Gas UK, the Trade Association for the renewable liquid gas industry’ aim to transition fully to renewable liquid gases by 2040 – as indeed do we!

There are two renewable gases on the way. Firstly, BioLPG which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90& and is made from a blend of sustainably sourced materials, and secondly rDME, another renewable gas. Both are ‘drop-in’ solutions so no need for a new boiler or any retrofit to your existing system.

  • How do I know when my LPG will be delivered?

We can let you know the day before your delivery is coming by a choice of email, SMS text message, or even a quick phone call. Whichever best suits you.
