LPG safety tips
LPG is, when used correctly, a very safe fuel. However, it is important to know how to keep your fuel safe, so here are some useful tips to help you do so:
- Keep the area around your tank free from debris, overhanging branches or anything that could catch fire.
- Before building any new structures, whether permanent or temporary, check the regulations to make sure that they are a safe distance away and don’t block the line of sight for your delivery driver. He must be able to see the wagon at all times when making your delivery of LPG.
- Don’t paint your LPG tank a different colour, as this could raise the temperature in sunny weather conditions, risking explosion.
- Familiarise yourself with your LPG tank. Get to know where the valves and underground pipes are.
- If you’re thinking about making any changes to your property let us know. We can make sure your tank’s location and the pipework continue to meet safety regulations.
- Do not smoke near the tank, or light bonfires or BBQ’s nearby.
- Make sure all markings are clearly visible. Your tank should have a safety sticker with emergency contact information. Make sure all markings are clearly visible and do not, under any circumstance, remove the sticker.
- Report any damage or failure to us immediately.
